Program Details

Beginning: This course will focus on teaching the following skills: Forehand, backhand, serve, and net play; rules and scoring Intermediate: This course is designed to review the fundamental strokes and their use in a game situation along with singles and doubles tactics. Prerequisite: average ability in fundamental strokes, and regular playing experience; NTRP rating of 3.0 or equivalent. Advanced: This course focuses on drills that emphasize footwork, serve and return, approach shots, volleys, lobs, and overheads. Student will also learn strategies for competition in singles and doubles. Prerequisite: above average strokes and game playing ability; NTRP equivalent rating of 4.0 or above. Note: Non-marking tennis shoes are required for class. Participants are encouraged to bring their own racquets. There will be a few available to borrow. Fees Students/Post-docs: $60 Staff and faculty: $110 Alumni, hospital employees, partners, spouses, retirees, dependents over 18: $120 BeWell: $60 (eligible Stanford staff and faculty who have completed their SHALA in the current year)
